Mustard Handwoven Shawl / Wrap

Mustard Handwoven Shawl / Wrap

The idea to make this shawl / wrap came after numerous times of my sister in-law showing me items of clothing that she would like to purchase. They were all in mustard shades, however she never really went ahead with it and each time ended up with something in black.

So, since it was her birthday in August, I thought it would be a nice idea to make her an accessory in this color that she likes so much but never seems to end up buying.

The yarn that I have used is my handspun merino single in mustard shade plied with a strand of Drops Alpaca Silk in Curry colorway.

For the weft, I have used a greyish yarn which is a blend of handspun merino plied with a strand of British 4ply from WoolyKnit.

The loom is 80cm wide Ashford rigid heddle loom.

It took me a few weeks to complete the wrap, but it was all worth it as it came out beautifully and the combination of mustard and grey created a wonderful deep shade.

If you would like to see more of this shawl, it is featured in the “Mustard shawl and new handspun yarn” video on my YouTube channel.
